Pattern Review: The Dadaisme Dress

IMG_2080

The first time I saw this dress posted on The Eli Monster Facebook group I gasped. It was so beautiful, so clean, and so different that I was practically begging to test it. I was definitely not disappointed. The Dadaisme Dress by the Eli Monster is a beautiful addition to any little girls wardrobe.

The dress features continuous front and back pieces as well as pleated side panels that go together is some sort of crazy pleating magic. The back closure uses a facing and a single button or snap. The top of the bodice is fitted and then flairs out in a gorgeous a-line. Because this dress is not lined it is perfect for our late summer days in Tennessee.

This dress is perfect for highlighting a print, color-blocking, or matching up soft colors. I loved this mint and cream/gold combo and love the way it turned out. I just adore the vintage, couture look of the completed dress.

This dress is unlined and requires less than 1 1/2 yards of fabric total for a size 4. The pattern prints in layers so no wasting ink and comes in sizes 12m to 12y so can be made again and again.

This seems to me like a dress Jackie O. would have worn and she’s the closest we have to an American princess. Not a twirling dress but a sipping sparkling cider while wearing diamonds dress for sure.
